  1. Most modern SD-card devices (camcorders, audio recorders, still cameras) are configured to look just like a plain old everyday SD card reader if you connect up to USB. So there's really little difference between connecting your camcorder to the PC, or moving the SD card over to a reader on the PC.

I have a bunch of SD devices (camera, audio recorder, smart phone), and I wind up doing both. There's a card reader on my laptop, another one on one of my printers, but I have a big SD hub on my desk.

It's possible that one kind might be faster than another.. not all SD readers are identical. So a dedicated read might be faster than your camcorder... but not necessarily. The other thing to watch... an older SD reader could have a problem with SDHC cards (most cards 4GB or larger)... you definitely want SDHC for a video camera or audio recorder, that they're nice even in a still camera.

  2. You just connect the camera and something will pop and ask you what you want to do...then you will select and the video will be saved on your computer will you select what you want to do!

  3. You can do both. But I prefer to directly insert the card in the computer. It gives me more control and I don't have to go through bulky and buggy software.

Just make sure you delete any copied files after you transfer them to your computer.

  4. just stick it in the computer...if only ur computer has a SD card slot

  5. You can either use a card reader or a USB cable.  I've had no problems with either of my cameras retrieving data using both methods.

  6. You connect your camera to you computer using a USB cord. A mini B, 5 pin type is usually the USB cord type for cameras.

  7. no,you can just put it in the little slot in the computer for it.

  8. Yo need to buy a card reader - maybe 5 bucks - take the card out of the camera, put it in the card reader, which plugs into USB - from their just treat it like a thumb drive
