I use SanDisk 4GB SDHC card to take pictures on my Cannon 7.1MegaPixel SD800 camera.

My question is, does the card have any significant effect on image quality?

Some cards I see are much more expensive than some.

Thanks

  1. No, the actual memory chip is the samne quality. In fact, onl;y a very small number of companies actually make these chips. They sell them to the various companies that then market them to consumers. The two main differences are name branding and speed. You pay more for some brands since they have a reputation for good qulity and you pay for faster transfer speeds.

  2. If I'm not mistaken, the prices that you see which are higher for some brands of memory cards is mainly due to the transfer speed of the card itself (read/write speed). That, along with a particular companies reputation for producing dependable cards would also have a small impact on the price. Some are just made better. These cards are also faster, more reliable, and operate in a wider temperature range. And for that, you pay a premium price. Of course, the capacity of the card (2 GB, 4 GB, and so on) also adds to the cost of any card - in some cases, the price difference due to this can be quite large.

But no, I don't think it has anything to do with image quality.

  3. Not at all.  The more expensive cards have faster read/write speeds which will make a difference if you shoot video or use continuous shooting mode on your camera.  They also may have a better warranty.  They also sometimes come with free image recovery software.  Check the package to see what bonuses you get with the more expensive card.

  4. There is no effect on the picture quality taken.

  5. there is not change in image quality, they are just storage mediums. i am one hundred percent positive that image quality is not affected, image quality is only affected by the camera.

they range is price because of their capacity, some are 512MB cards, and some are 16GB cards, and the first one is a heck of a lock cheaper than the second one, because of how much more it can store.

but no, image quality isn't affected by the storage medium of a camera.
