SDHC memory card - Video file format on computer?

When you record video onto an SDHC memory card and upload it to a computer, what video file format will it be in? (avi, mpeg, etc).

Is the new SanDisk HD SDHC (http://www.bhphotovideo.com/bnh/controller/home?O=cart_accessories&A=details&Q=&sku=541413&is=REG) really basically the same as the regular SDHC cards - or will it record in a different format if you're not using an HD camera?

I recently used a Canon HF10 and uploaded the video files from its internal memory and they were .m2ts, which I can't use. I just want to make sure that the SanDisk HD SDHC or a regular SDHC card will provide a normal video file. (I'm purchasing a Canon FS100 now and need a card for it.)
