hi..ppl of san diego

me and my wife are coming soon to SD. What scares us the most is the san diego state university parking avilipilty according to many students and websites parking at SDSU really sucks. It's so busy there during class hours and it's crazy and I'm so worry about being late.. i want to be on time during our classes with no headache.. for a better education and results, i was thinking to buy a car for my transportation to the university but when i heard about the problem i mantioned i decided to find a place to live near the trolley (green line) right on-site as mission valley,la mesa .fashion valley, all i need is there, shopping centers .restaurants and more do u think i can relay on the trolley for my edu.? and save money and avoid many negative points as fuel and parking permits and traffic ?

do you like my plan or I'm missing something ??

its my first time experience at the states ur replay and comments is important for me and my wife . thanks and God bless you all .

  1. You are smart to think of taking the trolley, the green line is very reliable and SDSU parking is always a nightmare. Trolley tickets are still fairly inexpensive per trip, and you can get a monthly pass fairly cheap (this might be a good idea if you have classes most days, you'll have to figure out if it's worth it or not).

Mission Valley and Fashion Valley are very nice, but they are expensive neighborhoods typically. Also, the trolley lines and freeways get really congested during the holidays and during events at the stadium. You might have to plan around these kinds of events to get to and from classes on time. If you want to save some money on housing, try the east county cities of Santee, El Cajon, La Mesa, and Lemon Grove, which tend to be less expensive than the mission and fashion valley area and perhaps a little less congested. Our housing prices are down right now too, so look for deals on houses and condos in these neighborhoods. Check out the area first though as some neighborhoods are better than others.

Ultimately, it's good to have a car because San Diego is really not set up for walkers or cyclists and our public transportation is not very good yet, so it's nice to have a car to get around from place to place, but it is not a necessity. You can always pick one up later if you want one. I wish you a lot of luck with your move and all your classes. ^_^

  2. take the trolley it's easy! It's cheap! It's nice!  live in the La Mesa less traffic jams near the shopping areas movies food shopping all within walking distance

  3. I suggest you come to America first and obtain an apartment on or near the campus so you do not have to drive.  You can buy  a car later on if you find it necessary.
