SEO and Link directories?

i have signed up on link directory website and i have gotten a couple of requests. What are good links to add to my website and what are bad links..Do i just have to look at the pagerank? If so, what is a good page rank?

Hi Jason,

The question of what are good links first starts with finding websites whose content is related to you or your industry.  Web pages that are content rich in your topic are good choices too (for example, wiki pages or social community pages).  Find things that are relevant.

The other question about what is a good page rank.  If you can get websites that have Page Ranks of 5 and above to link to you you're in good shape.

Factors to make Pagerank

Make sure links comes from the similar or same theme site.If u have webdesign site link must be come from designing site.

PageRank to determine site health (i.e. if it has a decent PageRank then you know Google's OK with it) and theme.  If you don't know if the site fits your theme check with DMOZ.  The less hops you have to take from on type of site to another the better you are.

For example, if you have a web design company you're only two hops from web hosting and so it's a good link.  A poker site is 6 hops away and thus, it logicaly is not a good partner. 3 (maybe 4 if they're a really strong site) is the max hops I'd go from category to category.

I not referring to specific pages here though.  You can be many hops away if you're looking at a web design company from Utah on the "starting with B" page. I decide based on the top category.

Pagerank and theme are the most critical factors. Make sure the links come from a site that has a similar theme.
