  1. When I had my septum pierced the total cost of the jewelry was $22, the cost of the piercing itself was $25 (plus a $10 tip), and then I bought a bottle of Satin brand soap from the shop for another $4.

On average a piercing like that can cost between $40-60 dollars, depending on the shop prices, the quality of the jewelry (ALWAYS get implant grade surgical steel or titanium), and the tip you leave.

My biggest advice to you is to purchase Satin soap, or another anti-microbial soap that is particularly safe for piercings.  I used this every night in the shower and then just cupped water in my hands and "blew bubbles" and my septum healed wonderfully.

As far as the pain, everyone is different.  For me it took two attempts so it was a little more painful, but it felt like a really good pinch.  Afterward it burned like a mother for a couple hours and then it was pretty much fine, just don't mess with it a lot or it will get irritated.

  2. mine didn't hurt really at all. just a little pressure and that's it. some people say that it hurts though. it really depends on your pain tolerance and the skill of the piercer.

your eyes will water. don't worry, it normal.

cost varies by shop and what jewelry you get. you'll have to call or go in to shops in your area to get a 100% accurate price. really it shouldn't cost you more than about $40-50 though. most shops will provide you with a packet of sea salt along with aftercare instructions. if they sell some kind of unscented antibacterial or antimicrobial soap there, get that too. it should only cost you a couple of dollars more. if not you can get soap at any grocery or drug store.

the other thing I highly suggest you get are those little dixie cups, the ones that are about the size of shot glasses. they work great for making your sea salt solution and for doing your soaks. I did mine my mixing the solution and then sticking my nose in and exhaling through my nose.

if for any reason you will have to hide the piercing, get pierced with a circular barbell instead of a captive bead ring. They are easy to flip up into your nose and will not be seen.

    good luck
