When running the home computer program that analyses data from seti if your computer actually finds a signal..

Do we get credit?

  1. Yes, but only if you find something. I've been running SETI for 8 years and am yet to process anything significant. Still, it's fun to contribute, and exciting for the off chance you might actually be the one to find that signal :)

Although you would, I now regard having the computer on all the time, and drawing electrical energy, which usually requires a large amount of CO2 emissions to be produced, to now be essentially antisocial in nature. It also wears out the cooling fan much sooner, requiring more frequent replacement.

    One dedicated supercomputer at Berkeley would be a vastly more energy efficient way to go.
