The values of family and relationships are completely opposed in the Taming of The Shrew and 10 Things I Hate about You due to the context and societal values of the time. Due to the context and views of the Elizabethan, period Taming of the Shrew focus on marriage and money, with the daughters being a liability to their fathers and need to get married off as soon as possible.
