SHINCO Dvd player no longer playing cd's without...

Question

My Shinco portable dvd player is no longer playing audio cd's without skipping and freezing. The dvd player also makes a loud "whirriing" noise when this happens as though trying to read the disc. It used to play cd's fine, then after a few hours in very cold weather (it was in the car) it stopped. I don't know if this is coincidence?It plays dvd's fine!! I have tried using a lens cleaning disc twice. Should i try to get it repaired, and where is the best place to go for repairs?Thanks.
