  1. McCain sure thinks they're a swell idea - maybe they are.  Probably the least number of people have been killed by nuclear radiation in power generation than in any other form of power generation.  Back in the day of steam they'd kill people 300 at a time in big steam explosions.  Nuclear power has no record like that.  People are truly freaked about the waste - but some place has to be found to bury it.

  2. only if we can take care of the waste it is radioactive for about 100,000 years what are we going to do with it??

  3. Yes it is a known technology and is safe as long as safety standards are kept.  Other Alternative techs will not supply the needed energy or would need to be developed more to supply needed energy.  The real answer would to develop and use all energy resources.

  4. I don't know but consider a terrorist flying an airplane into a reactor!

  5. Yes,terrorist countries build them, our safety is better.

  6. The world can only build so many as the nuclear rods are limited and expensive. Most miners died in a few years in the USA in the 1960. But it is just one of many answers we need. Check out CoolingEarth.org to learn more

  7. Yes!  Why would anyone be afraid of modern technology?

  8. Nuclear power was a very strong answer for communities like Chicago which were plagued by smog from their coal plants.  However, right now we're only producing about 70% of the uranium we're consuming.  The rest comes from stockpiles from the cold war.

That being said, the answer to energy is a diverse diet.  There is no catch all solution to our energy needs, so I don't see anything wrong with nuclear plants.  There is still a lot of uranium in the world.
