  1. My theory has always been: oil is oil, but engine manufacturers see it differently.

If you engine is still under warranty make sure you use their brand or it will void the warranty.

Out of warranty, oil is oil. I use a no name brand here in Minnesota from a local super store for all my 2-cycle engines. Boats, chainsaws, and snowmobiles.

  2. It is totally practical to use 2 stroke from your chainsaw/ strimmer/ hedge cutter in your outboard

    BUT...

certain areas of marine ecologically sensitive waters ban  2 stroke oils that produce to much particulate or contain S8 Sulphur (sulfur). So best to check with your local marine chandlers to see what they recommend

  3. I would not use it. Buy in bulk. Wal-mart has Pennzoil synthetic 2 stroke outboard oil that is great stuff. Less smoke that conventional oil.

  4. i been living on my boat 35+  years and i use one 2 stoke for all my machinery. i get it at a car shop 5Lt £14.99

  5. oil is most important thing in any engine and is the no.1 factor

in determining the life span of the engine,

so while the oil you have might though, it would be well worth while checking with the manufacturer specifaction.

your marine engine probably works at a different temp than garden machinery so that would also be a concidering factor, diff oils for diff temps

  6. NO!!

There is a difference in the oil. There are several additived that Marine Grade oil has that your lawn mower and car do not have.
