SHURE VHF CORDLESS T3 Receiver and T2 Vocal Artist...

Bought it brand new about 4 years ago. (SHURE VHF CORDLESS T3 Receiver and T2 Vocal Artist SM58 Mic).
But: a strange thing happens. It keeps cutting out.
I have a bit of electronic knowledge myself.
Ive checked both the mic and receiver circuit boards for dry joints. I see none.
The mic works perectly, but then for one hundreth of a second, in a certain position you might move through, the mic cuts out, then it works perfectly again. Have changed the battery. Have checked the battery terminals. All seem ok.
I live in Hermanus and it's frustrating to have such a good mic, basically unused, brandnew, to my knowledge it hasn't fallen, and it works, but momentarily cuts, and then you actually can hear ...like a scratchy crackly sound for a half a second, as it loses contact with the receiver, and then regains frequency contact.
I feel it's got something to do with the frequency "locking"...it's as if the mic is not quite tuned in 100%n to the receiver, or visa versa...
Who in South Africa, would be able to test that both the receiver and mic are transmitting and receiving on EXACTLY the same frequency? Coz that's what I think needs to be done now.
I've even thought of keeping the mic, obviously, as close as possible to the receiver...but even in very close proxsimity, this happens. Otherwise, wwhen the actual sound reproduction comes thru, it's perfect, SM58 quality, so the mic is working.
I did too adjust the squelch....i must say, it "seemed" to help, ive got it at max setting now......but .... i still see the orange RF light on the receiver momentarily cut......so there's got to be something wrong.
Another two questions I have...with a VHF receiver, should the receiver itself be as highly positioned, i mean up in the air, as possible, or wouldn't this make much of a difference?
And secondly, i've even thought of extending the existing aerial, perhaps putting a longer one on.....see if that helps. At the moment it's just standard the way i bought it.

Tried using the mic in a concert, and what a disaster, it embarressed the singer, and the mic is, as i say, brand new.

Thanks a mil...
What do ya think?
I notice on the board of the mic itself, theres a little silver box panpot thingy, with RF written next to it, (nothing like that on the board of the receiver)....at least, there are panpots on the receiver, but nothing with RF written next to it.
I am OH so tempted to turn on the one on the dial on the mic, coz logic dictates to me that the frequency is just just out...but....without equipment, to actually get it spot on, im reluctant to do this.

Anyone can help, your comments will be welcome.
thank you so much.
