  1. smith and wesson quicly discontinued the sigma because while it was a very ergonomic design, it had terrible accuracy and reliability.

However, without knowing which specifc taurus 9mm you are considering, we cannot advise you properly

  2. Taurus PT 92/99 series are without a doubt far superior to the S&W Sigma.

  3. S&W sigma. you can never beat S&W trust me on this

  4. Definitely the Taurus.  I will never again buy anything with the Smith & Wesson logo and the name 'Sigma' attached to it.  I ordered a new S&W 9mm first generation Sigma and it was junk.

  5. Taurus

  6. I am the Smith and Wesson poster boy... the sigma was an ill-fated venture into the boat anchor market.

  7. Smith and Wesson in 357 Magnum is your best choice.*

  8. Some gun people would argue that neither is good.  Although I've handled both, I haven't shot either.  I have seen the quality of Taurus autos questioned many times on different forums (although their revolvers generally generate positive feedback).  Likewise, many people make fun of the S&W Sigma - I think because it's so cheap!

People often base their opinions of guns off the reputation of the company, but ultimately it comes down to which one feels the best in your hand.  The most important thing is to Practice, as your weapon is useless if you are not proficient with it.

I own a Springfield XD9 and I like it alot!  Also, many people like Glocks (although I am not one of them).  If price is a big concern, buy used (find a gun store with a good reputation).  Magazine prices are something to consider as well.  Lastly, I don't know if you've seen this site, but check it out as there is good information on it: http://www.best9mm.com/

    Good Luck!

  9. I have owned a .40 S&W sigma, with 14rd capacity, which was the only nice thing about it, It was cheap I got it for $200.00 but I do not like Taurus unless it is a revolver. I guess I would have to go with the Taurus, though.

  10. I had 1 Sigma and will never buy another again.

For Taurus, the 24/7 has gotten great reviews.  I can personally vouch for the 92 and 911 series.  I have owned these in the past and would have no reservations about owning them again in the future.

  11. Taurus....Taurus.....Taurus!

The Sigma does not have the quality or reliability Taurus does. The Sigma I owned (first generation, .40ve) jammed every three rounds even after taking it to a S&W gunsmith.

Taurus makes a straight up firearm and 9mm is a great choice of caliber, although I would like to know what model you are looking at.  The 24/7s are awesome.

  12. The Taurus, any Taurus, is better

Sigma was definitely not one of Smiths better ideas
