SIM is locked

Question

i bought a motorola phone last yr with a bundle offer. the retailer said it comes with a SIM free feature. so the sim is locked to the particular phone. i can't put any other sim card other than the provided one. i want to give this phone to my mother . but i can't put another sim card into it. what to do . please help? motorola C117
