SIMS 2 Apartment Life...invalid apartment?

I keep trying to build my own custom apartment in the new expansion pack. I build the apartment buildings, put in the code changelotzoning apartmentbase, and then save it and every time so far it comes up with an error saying that one or more apartments on the lot are invalid with architectural errors and to revert the lot back to residential and fix them and I honestly have no clue what could be causing it. I keep going back through the building I've made look for something that I might have forgotten to seal up but so far I'm drawing a blank.

When I'm in the main neighborhood screen and hover over the building, it just says 0 apartments for rent...rent 0-0 and it won't let me move anyone in. Could someone please let me know if there's something I'm doing wrong here and how to fix it? I like this expansion pack but I'm not a fan of the Maxis default apartments and want to make and use my own.

There can be only one entrance to each apartment unit.  You have to use the Apartment door for each apartment but use regular doors to enter any common areas.  If you are making a patio the patio has to be fenced or walled in so no one can enter the unit from the patio if they haven't first exited the apartment to the patio.  The only entrance from the outside has to be the apartment door.  You also need the apartment mailbox on the lot so your sim can get mail.
