SIRIUS XM merger, will channels be eliminated?

So now that SIRIUS and XM have merged, will some of the channels start disappearing? Like I have SIRIUS and their top 40 station is SIRIUS Hits 1 and I'm sure XM has a top 40 station too, so will like one of them be eliminated, or will they keep both of them?

  1. They will faze out duplicating channels as soon as they get the packages set up where you make a choice of which price point you want. Then you'll get to decide which channels you want. Or, you can keep all the XM or Sirius channels on your current deal. But expect duplicating channels to be merged into one for both.

  2. I disgree with Duh on that one as it's been said that both companies will offer seperate tiers for people who have just XM radios, those who have just sirius, and those who will have the combined units

From what I understand, some sat radios can be unlocked for both sat casters by a software update, whereas others are locked and will be forced to continue with either XM or Sirius only.

Plus people will want the bigger variety that a "300 channel" sat caster will offer them

So look for Sirius Hits 1, 20 on 20 , and BBC1 I think in the future
