Question:

SJ has been way too quiet!?

Its unlike Doug Wilson to not take center stage but its definitely Doug Wilson to not make any hasty moves. My thoughts on SJ is for them to go after Marian Hossa. SJ is one of the teams on his short list and the Sharks have the money to sign him. They should then trade one of their forwards to address the hole that Brian Campbell left. Lastly, they should sign Bret Hedican to add depth to their blueline.

What are your thoughts on what SJ needs to do now that both Campbell and Redden are signed?

  1. The only "NOISE" the Atlanta Thrashers have made is former players signing with other teams.  I feel bad for Ilya Kovalchuk. He is a great player with no one esle on his team.

  2. Before the day began I thought that the Sharks would ahve a contract with one of the following:

    1. Brian Campbell

    2. Wade Redden

    3. Mike Green

    4. Mark Streit

Opps! Looks like none of those options worked out.

    I also thought forwards

    1. Radim Vrbata

    2. Marion Hossa

    3. Corey Perry (It hurts to say that)

    4. Brian Rolston

3 out of the 4 made contracts today. Except Hossa. Hossa's offers are getting insane. I've heard as high as 10 million per year. Thats way too much. They've got to think smaller.

So here's a list I made for Wilson for tomorrow

    (Not in any order)

    Defense

    1. Brooks Orpik

    2. Jay Bouwmeester

    3. Andrej Meszaros

    4. Ron Hainsey

    5. Bret Hedican (my bad) +17 last year geez!

    Offense

    1. Antti Miettinen

    2. Sean Avery

    3. Owen Nolan

    4. Kristian Huselius

    5. Mark Recchi

  3. teams are better off being quiet in free agents. other wise they over pay players like Chicago just did and teams like the rangers do every year. They need to stick with drafting well and making a few key trades.

look who just won the cup not high spending rangers.... i think it was the wings who just stick with drafting extremely well and that has led them to being the model franchise.

  4. The sharks are always quick there a team that builds and feeds off of internal talent. Most of there team is home grown. Im glad we didnt re-sign campbell 7 mill a year is way too much 4 that guy, a guy like bret hedican would b a good fit and almost all the sharks young D men have gotten experince and will b good this year. I think the sharks will bring up Ty Wishart to help with the D>>>hes a good young D man. This stratugy of stayin quite has worked so far. Hopefully we can bring th cup home in 08-09

  5. omgg thank you. doug wilson needs to get moving before everyone good is gone. i think they should go after marian hossa 2. & your right they do have the money to sign him. i think the sharks just need to sign someone good, hopefully marian hossa. but about the campbell thing, i kinda saw that coming that he was going to leave, it was only a matter of time.

  6. agreed, my man. good luck. Hossa would make an already bright future, even brighter.

  7. THEY do not NEED more talent.

Sorry they have a great talent pool. Maybe they need to address the loss of Campbell, but thats about it.

The thing is they have the talent they apparently dont have the chemistry. Basically a lot of what they need to do is in terms of addressing chemistry (like a swap of guys of the same talent level that are both not performing on their current team). I think the sharks can get a lot of interest in what they have on the team now and can address their needs via trade.

  8. My team's too quiet too. And they let Metropolit go... >:l

  9. No more rent-a-sharks I think they need to give Matt Carle the keys again and let other shark players like Joe Pavelski, Devin Setoguchi and Tory Mitchell take over this team.

  10. Sounds like to get HOSSA it will take about 10mil for many years! Not something I would pay for him! Only a team in desperation mode would do that. He is not a guy to build a team around IMO, he is high end quality supporting cast! 10mil a season for  him is ridiculous.

  11. I agree that SJ has been quiet. I really thought they would get Redden.

I think they need to sign a rising star defenseman to a long term contract.

    Or

Trade one of their forwards for a defenseman.
