I am a big guy...265lbs and I would love to go skydiving. However, I want to know if there is a way I can go. I know a lot of tandem skydivers wont take over 210. I was wondering if there was a way I could do freefall my first time. I would love to do this. Looking at some sites in NC (where I live) it appears as if you can. Any help would be appreciated.

THANKS GUYS AND LADIES!

  1. there are places you can solo jump for your first jump or static line, tandem jumps are mostly used primarily for safety reasons. My first jump was a solo

  2. You might be able to go through Accelerated Free Fall training.  It will depend on the dropzone and the equipment they have.  The best thing to is call the dropzones directly and see if they will train you to jump.  It is possible.  Accelerated Free Fall training you will wear your own parachute system and jump with two jumpmasters after going through several hours of ground training.  It is a lot of fun and I love the sport of skydiving.  Good luck, I hope you get to jump!

By the way, if your weight is proportionate to your build, i.e., you're a body builder or just a larger than average human, it will be more likely you'll be able to jump.  If you weight is a result of a few to many beers it might be a little more difficult for you jump.  This is do to how the gear will fit and safety.
