SLPL experience will help in World T20, Mushfiqur Rahim – Cricket News Update
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Sri-Lanka-c758 next week.
Mushfiqur and his two teammates – all-rounder http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Tamim-Iqbal-c2640 – played on various Sri Lankan grounds, scheduled to host World T20 fixtures, including Pallekele International Cricket Stadium, the venue for
Bangladesh’s group stage encounters.
The wicketkeeper batsman played for Nagenahira Nagas and Iqbal represented Wayamba United in the domestic Twenty20 league, while Mahmudullah played three games for Basnahira Cricket Dundee, including one at Pallekele.
"A couple of us recently played in the SLPL and did well," said Mushfiqur while speaking to media reporters at pre-event press conference in Colombo on Thursday.
"Our group matches are in Pallekele and that is not a spinning track. Our pace attack is quite balanced so we hope to continue to do well with the spinners and pacers. It will give us a good chance to move to the second round," he added
further.
The Bengali Tigers have been drawn in Group D alongside http://www.senore.com/Cricket/New-Zealand-c754, a team well known for exceeding expectations
in mega events.
Mushfiqur agreed that they have been drafted in the toughest group, and is looking forward to the luck gods to favour them to reach the Super Eight stage.
"They [Pakistan] are a really good, balanced team and they won this tournament in 2009," said the 24-year-old Bogra wicketkeeper batsman, who has so far led the Tigers in eight T20 Internationals, winning five and losing only three.
"New Zealand are also quite strong in T20s, so we must do well with our skills and probably with some luck, anything is possible," he added further.
Mushfiqur and men are also scheduled to play two warm-up matches against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Ireland-c751, at Colombo (Moors) a day later, before their tournament opener against the Black Caps, the following
Friday.
Top two teams from each group would progress to the Super Eights, and a single defeat in the group stage would end that team’s campaign within four days.
