SLPL provides a great platform to the youngsters, feels Hashan Tillakaratne – Cricket News Update
Former Sri Lankan captain and middle-order batsman, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Hashan-Prasantha-Tillakaratne-c62021, believes that the Sri Lanka Premier League (SLPL) provides a fantastic opportunity to the young players to showcase their skills and strengthen their case for
national selection.
The inaugural edition of the cash-rich league is currently being played in the country, with its final scheduled to be held in Colombo on August 31. 7 teams are taking part in the tournament, which has allowed a huge pool of domestic
players to prove their mettle on the big stage.

Tillakaratne however, is optimistic about Sri Lanka’s future in international cricket because many talented youngsters are coming through the ranks, which is always a great sign. He refused to name any specific upcoming player but
the former left-handed batsman is satisfied with the standard of cricket in the country.
“There are so many youngsters, and the SLPL gives them a very good opportunity to be recognised. Right now I cannot single out one particular player, but I have seen so many players coming up. I am sure in time there will be a few
more players knocking on the selectors' door,” the former captain believes.
Tillakaratne happens to be Ruhuna Royals’ manager and expressed that it has been a wonderful experience for him so far. The former Lankan captain thinks that his country has given him a lot and now it is time for him to pay back to
the Island’s cricket.
He further added that the all the Ruhuna players have gelled well for the betterment of the franchise.
The former middle-order batsman added, "To manage a team with players from so many backgrounds is a challenge for me, but the boys are getting along with each other really well. If I can give something back to cricket through this
role of mine, then I will be very happy."
