SLPL was a great experience for me: Hammad Azam – Cricket News Update
Pakistan’s out of favour all-rounder, Hammad Azam, has expressed that playing the inaugural edition of the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Sri-Lanka-c758 Premier League (SLPL) was a wonderful experience and claims to have learnt a lot from some of his side’s senior players.
The 21-year-old cricketer represented UVA Next in the cash-rich league, which went on to clinch the trophy and qualified for the Champions League T20 2012, which is scheduled to be played in http://www.senore.com/Cricket/South-Africa-c757 next month.
The cricketer from Attock got an opportunity to prove his mettle in just one game, but he was sent in to bat at number eight with only a few balls left in the innings. The all-rounder could only manage two runs.
He failed to make an impression with the ball either, giving away 33 runs in three overs, without getting any wicket. The former under-19 star however, feels that the he has gained useful experience in the tournament, playing alongside
some very senior cricketers.
While talking to Pakpassion, the all-rounder expressed that SLPL was a very well managed tournament and the facilities were of international standard. Some of the pundits slammed the lack of intensity in the SLPL but Hammad
thinks that the tournament was a very competitive one.
"I only played in one game but it’s been a great experience. It was a very well organised tournament and I was really impressed with the management," he said. "The standard of cricket was also very high, and the atmosphere was similar to that of international
cricket. Each team has a mixture of local players and international stars, so the quality of the competition has been excellent and I really enjoyed it."
The talented cricketer, who has been out of international cricket since the Asia Cup 2012 final at Dhaka in March, revealed that UVA Next’s experienced cricketers, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Andrew-McDonald-c1042 and Umar Gul helped him enhance his skills, which should be useful
for him in future.
"I’ve spent time with big names like Jacob Oram and Andrew McDonald, and of course http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Umar-Gul-c94604. I tried to learn as much as I could during the matches," Azam added.
