SLPL was a very enjoyable experience, says http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Ahmed-Shehzad-c42359 – Cricket News Update
Ahmed Shehzad, the discarded Pakistan opening batsman, has expressed that playing in the inaugural edition of the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Sri-Lanka-c758 Premier League (SLPL) was a great experience for him, having the opportunity to share dressing-rooms with some of the best players
in the world.
The 20-year-old cricketer from Lahore, having done extremely well at the junior level as well as in different seasons of the Quaid-e-Azam Trophy, made his way to international cricket in 2009 against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/United-Arab-Emirates-c3033 (UAE).
The right-handed batsman is considered to be one of the most gifted batsmen in the country, having already shown the glimpses of his talent at the global stage through a couple of centuries.
Shehzad represented Nagenahira in SLPL’s first season, which was played in August this year. The hard-hitting batsman failed to impress in the tournament but claims to have learnt a lot by playing alongside a number of international as well as some local
stars.
“There were some good international players and then there was some of the local talent who got some good exposure playing in such a high standard game. Altogether, it was a very enjoyable experience for me,” said Shehzad.
The talented youngster has so far represented http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Pakistan-c755 in 19 One Day Internationals (ODIs) and eight T20s, having scored more than six hundred runs. The right-hander is presently representing Habib Bank Limited (HBL) in the on-going President’s Trophy.
Shehzad last represented Pakistan during the tour of Sri Lanka earlier this year but was dropped from the T20 squad for the series against Australia in UAE and also for the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/ICC-World-Cup-2011-c100625 World T20 2012.
The cricketer from Lahore was all praise for the SLPL organisers for the amazing facilities they provided to the players.
“It was great and I really enjoyed it too. It’s been tough cricket for us players and for a first time tournament it has been top notch. Full credit to the organisers who organised a great tournament,” he added. “It was very meticulous planning, from the
facilities and the grounds available and the standard of cricket was very good.”
