Years ago wen it snowed people would put chains on their car wheels to get around. Why has this stopped? Is it a parliamentary issue?

  1. It hasnt stopped. People mostly only use them when the snow is deep, or they may buy snow tires. Even normal tires have undergone many changes over the past 20 years to make them handle better in snow.

Snow tires have small metal knubs in them to help keep traction in snow and ice. Unless you are very close, you cannot tell the difference between snow tires and normal tires.

  2. We haven't had snow deep enough for much of the last decade and a half. They would probably be "Health and Safetied" out because of the risk of breaking, flying off and damaging the snow.

  3. Haven't got a clue.

  4. We do not get the snow that we had 50 + years ago

  5. Because Winter tires and All-Season tires have gotten a lot better.

  6. Cos we get very little snow now

  7. DUNNO

  8. Your Pulling My Chain!

  9. Some still do use chains... Particularly heavy trucks, but with the development of front-wheel drive cars, and better snow tires, chains are not needed as often as they used to be.
