The SNY broadcast team does a daily afflack trivia question. Tonight, (because Roy Oswalt and Johan Santana have both led their teams in wins the past 4 sesons) they asked "Who was the last pitcher to lead their team in wins for 5 consecutive seasons?" Originally I thought it was Roy Halladay, but then I remembered he missed some time in 2004. I got into a debate with my mom and unfortunately, the game ended too quickly and they never showed us the answer. I tried googling it but it didn't come up. Any baseball stat experts out there know the answer?

  1. The did show the answer late in the game. It was Al Leiter while with the Mets.

  2. They answered the question in the 7th inning. Its Al Leiter from 1998-2002 while with the Mets.

  3. thats tough, it doesnt even have to be a good pitcher since it could be on a team with no other pitching talent.  If it can be with more than one team, then i would guess Pedro Martinez

  4. Al Leiter from 1998 - 2002 led the Mets in wins five times.

    1998  17 wins

1999  13 wins (tied with Orel Hershiser)

    2000  16 wins

2001  11 wins (tied with Kevin Appier)

    2002  13 wins

2003  15 wins (Steve Tracsel had 16 wins)

    I hope this helps you.

However he tied for the team
