  1. I use it a lot for small repairs and it works pretty good, it is also a necessity when traveling.  Just make sure that you sand the area prior to putting on the solarez so it has a good surface to bond to.  I wouldn't use it to patch a large area though.  I would get a ding repair kit with fiberglass and resin.  I think Ding-All makes a kit.

  2. I would only recommend using Solarez and SunCure for temporary, or "quick", fixes.  They tend to not last as long as normal resin with fiberglass and sometimes they will pop out. One technique I have heard of is using the Solarez to fill the ding up, sand it and then put a thin layer of fiberglass on top of that.

Nothing works better than fiberglass and resin, just like how they were made.

  3. I use Solarez quite a bit for small dings and it has always worked well.  It is easy to apply and it cures within minutes in natural sunlight so you can get back in the surf right away.  I love it and always bring a tube with me on every surf trip.  If you have a deeper ding that needs to be filled make sure you get the white type to fill the hole, then cover with the clear type to restore the board to its original look (this technique applies to dings on boards with a clear glass coating and no airbrushing).  Always use a piece of plasic wrap to smooth out the Solarez before curing in the sun.  It will provide a glossy finish and eliminates the need to sand the repair.
