SONY A100 SLR, Duplicate file names, how do I change it

Question

everytimg I remove old pics from the memory card, it restarts the file numbers so I have many with the samd number.

Then when I need to use the same folder, it tries to replace the old pic, and wen I ned to link back to a pic from illustrator, It gets all confused,

How can I make it continue from where it left off?
