Chien Cheng Lai, an aggressive player from Chinese Taipei, delivered a staggering performance in all of his matches and bagged Men’s Singles title at the SOTX Auckland International 2012 at Auckland, New Zealand, on Sunday, June 24.
In the final encounter, Chien Cheng tamed his team-mate Po Wei Cheng in sensational fashion by playing flawless badminton.
Chien Cheng, who has been putting in extra effort to prove his worth at international level, finally got the prize as he did not show any mercy to his country-mate in the title match and overpowered him in two sets by taking just 35 minutes on the court.
On the other hand, Po Wei failed to maintain his positive and progressive run in the final match while playing against his compatriot and lost to him in two games without showing his brilliance.
Chien Cheng found an impressive start in the first game as he did not face any problem in taking control of rallies and remained dominant throughout the opening half.
In the meanwhile, Po Wei could not dominate the pace as he failed to place his smashes in right areas and remained trailing on the board until the one-minute break.
After the interval, the in-form Chien Cheng continued his staggering performance in the court without showing any mercy to his team-mate and easily wrapped up the opening set with a sensational 21-15 score on the board.
In the second game, Chien Cheng was in full swing as he spared no chance for his opponent to show some strong resistance.
Chien Cheng was everywhere in the court by using his incredible speed and again managed a stunning lead until the mid-game interval.
After the one-minute break, Po Wei tried to play dominating badminton by taking the bird early at net but failed to take any advantage as his opponent was quick in all areas of the court.
The aggressive Chien Cheng was playing at his best and he grabbed the second game with a superb 21-13 score on the board.
Chien Cheng won this Men’s Singles title match against Po Wei in straight sets with a tremendous margin of 21-15 and 21-13.
