I am using the yamaha RXV 361 AMP need to know few things, being a layman need some inputs

1) should i keep the Bass and trebel at db +10, currently it is at Db 0 or any better advice

2) i have increased the SP Level for the FrontSpeakers at 80 % ( Speaker distance is 12 feet from sweet spot), Surround Speakers at 60 % ( distance is 5 feet from sweet spot)and the LFE at 100 % ( Speaker distance is 7 feet from sweet spot). is it ok or any better setting recomm ( all speakers are mounted on wall about 5 feet from ground), i have made this setting depending upon the speaker distance in my room

any SP LEVEL recommendation for a room size of 16 x 12 feet ( rectangualr shape).

  1. You use test-tones (that hit each speaker independently) and a radio shack SPL meter to level adjust all your speakers and subwoofer.

The goal is NOT to fill a room, but to compensate for sitting at different distances to the speakers and having different throw-patterns.

Get a copy of "Avia", "Digital Video Essentials" or "Sound & Vision Setup DVD" and these disks have tutorials that show you how to do the level adjusting.

  2. I'd set the surround to 50% and the the Subwoofer to 50 % and the fronts  to 75%......

I'd bump the bass up to 5db....

Then bump up the volume a little....your system sounds too far out of balance to give you good surround....
