  1. Europe is really great in that there are all different ways you can travel that is very cost effective. For cheap flights there are a number of website that deal with Inter-European flights. Some of those airlines include RyanAir, Vueling, Blue-Fly and Air Comet. I have used these and they are fine. When I was in Italy we took trains throughout the entire country, which was cheap and easy. By train most places are like 2 -4 hours away, so it is great. I would take trains through the individual countries, like from Madrid to Barcelona and Venice to Florence. Sounds like you have an awesome vacation planned!

  2. If you are European think about an InterRail Youth pass: http://www.interrailnet.com/interrail_gl... (set the currency to Euros if you buy in Euro zone.)

If you are from outside Europe, Eurail might be your best bet.

You can get an Italy-Spain pass: http://www.raileurope.com/us/rail/passes...

But if you want to travel just a little bit, you might be better of just buying tickets when you want to travel.

Third item on this page has info on how to work out whether you will be better off buying a pass or not:
