what do you think of the vympel programme that took place ?

vympel was a communist elite programme that had the recruits go through some fatal training where they were thought how to drive all kinds of vehicles including aircraft

groups of Vympel were deployed in cities with especially important nuclear objects.

Ah the good old days when we knew who our enemy was. These guys were in country waiting for the green like to take out tactical nukes in Europe and everyone knew it.

the spetsnaz,refered to by the west as "special forces" but not in the same sense as our SAS,spetsnaz  is the name given by the russians to any special purpose group,vympel were begat by spetsnaz as an offshoot group with the mission statement to protect inner russia,at its height the spetnaz with all the attached/detached units numbered around 30,000 to 40,000 and were in the main tasked to carry out subversive warfare in peacetime ,it is a recorded fact that some of these units were picked up in western europe during the 80s whilst carrying out recon missions and returned to russia by diplomatic means,it is worth noting that all members of spetsnaz were multi-trained so as to multi-task on what ever mission may have been assigned to them,following the end of the cold war many of these units were disbanded,had they ever been deployed in a warlike situation then would have been a force to reckon with,

These were well trained and motivated bad dudes....  they were also my primary target of interest during part of my career in Military Intelligence.

What do I think of their program...?  The object of war is to win.
