  1. These links give info on the first aid for spider bites but you must visit the doc.

  2. Keep an eye on it.  Without knowing the kind of spider, the correct course of action is difficult to say.  With almost all spiders, you'd expect a short pain, a little swelling, and that is all.  The wound would be gone in a day or two.

Of course, some spider bites can be a lot worse.

For general treatment, keep the bite area clean with soap and water and apply a cold pack to relieve swelling and pain (if any).  If pain is intense, take Advil or Acetaminophen.  If you have difficulty breathing, get severe abdominal pain, or necrosis occurs, consult a doctor.  Necrosis is death of the skin around the bite area, and in early stages appears to be a swollen "volcano" like wound with intense pain and redness.

In California, I believe the spiders that you would have to worry about the most are long legged sac spiders, which have a necrotic venom, and Western black widows, which have neurotoxic venom.

  3. Go to the doctor ASAP, it could be poisonous. Be safe than sorry.

  5. I looked up tan spiders on google and a brown recluse came up here's it's picture- http://www.desertusa.com/desert-animals/... if the spider looked anything like this go to the hospital immediatly! Just to be safe even if it didn't look like this call a doctor and speak with them.
