  1. I don't know where your from but sometimes you can go to the local high school drama department, or college drama department and they will have something you can rent or borrow. Another choice is if you know some one in to Renaissance era role playing type things they will have something you can wear. Also you can go with something of Egyptian flair or Roman royalty which can be easily made from bedsheets. add a gold belt and gold accents. Scottish kilts are also fairly easy to make if u want to buy the plaid for it and the peasant type white shirts to match. Japanese royalty would also be fairly easy to emulate with a silk printed robe and a wide belt and jewels in the hair

The best thing to remember that it was the English, and French royalty that made popular the extravagant layers and materials most people think of when looking for dress of the royalty.

  2. Go as a Roman Emperor.  A bedsheet will do nicely for a toga.  You can make a garland out of cardboard with pasted leaves or leaves made of colored cardboard, cut out and glued to the base of your garland.

Nothing more royal than an emperor!
