  1. Like all countries, it should be their best players regardless of colour. But, everyone should be given the same chance to make the grade.

  2. Yes we have the quotas system.

And there are 3 players of Colour in the Springboks.

South Africa is a African country we can't have only Europeans playing and then say they are representing us(Africans) would you like it if the whole English team was African and the players could not speak any English and did not respect any English traditions. I think not.

So please keep your judgements to yourselves we know what we are doing and we had a very very bad past and we working together as a nation to move on our own way.

Fair enough our football sucks but thats not going to change our love and passion for it.

  3. Springboks 2007-representatives of the best rugby talent on offer in South Africa. Period.

And yes it is true they are under pressure to comply with a quota "social engineering" scheme touted by the new regime to include players of colour (ie blacks)regardless of their skills as rugby players.

In my book: Players of colour in the SA squad =30 great men all different colours!

It seems no matter who you vote for a politician always gets into power!

So much for the Rainbow Nation.

  4. if they are they'll become uncompetitive

and if I were a white player I'd leave like clyde rathbone

  5. We also have Guthro Steenkamp (prop) Ricky Januarie (skrumhalf) Ashwin Willemse (winger)

The fact of the matter is that the 'quota system' has been in operation for some time in SA. Some of the so called quota players would have made the grade without the system. Others not.

You might just be seeing the last of competitive Springbok rugby in this world cup.

It has been stated that squads of 22 will be forced to have 14 quota players from next season.

The other fact is that the squad as it is, is more than represented if you look at the number of black players in South Africa.

Another fact is that we have quite a few better wingers than Pietersen at home.

  6. Unfortunately you just cannot keep politics out of sport - a quick check of most of these blog sites will find the welsh, Irish and Scottish (and to some extent other coutnries) blaming England for events that took place hundreds of years ago.  England supporters still seem to think they rule the waves and are the leaders of the Empire.  Pity really that politics gets in the way of a fantastic game!!

  7. lets's keep politics out of Sport.

  8. Pieterson and Habana are probably the two best wingers in the game at the mo'. Quota system = a load of old blocks. It has taken many countries hundreds/thousands of years to realise that sport transcends race/colour/creed.

  9. NO - should be the best players and not become another colour discussion. Habanna is one of the most popular players and fantastic - no-one cares - passionate about rugby - colour blind!!!

  10. Best players should always get picked Have you seen a South African football team, it's the opposite of Rugby. Blacks play football and whites play rugby. But anyway England have benefitted from a quota system in SA Cricket. We now have Kevin Pietersen.

  11. I'm not entirely sure, but I know they picked Pieterson based on his colour, which turmed out to be a blessing cos hes d**n good. So thats 2 in the squad (him and Habana) and then I think Ngadangane is also on the bench (??), so thats three. I think its gotta be three, but again I am not sure how coloured you have to be, I mean you never know somebody like Matfield etc might have some black african in him to be counted. So I am not sure the exact rules but yes there is a quota system and they do abide by it.
