  1. Basically all SR-22 insurance is used for is the state's records. This insures them that the driver in question has insurance and keeps insurance for the time required by law. A driver that needs SR22 insurance is one who has  broke the law in one way or the other. For example, the driver may have been caught driving without insurance, had tickets or accident(s) without insurance, drug possession(s) or other criminal activity that the state requires a SR-22 policy. The insurance company charges the drivers more money for the policy. Not a whole lot for SR-22 filing. Higher rates are based more because of the risk potential, the driver is considered a higher risk to an insurance company. The insurance company notifies the state if the driver has canceled the policy or broke the agreement. To answer your question, you should be able to driver other people's automobiles. The SR-22 insurance is on file with the department of public safety. However, every driver who is going to attempt to drive another vehicle should check with their state's department of public safety to find out the laws of the state regarding SR-22 and driving other vehicles. Each state may be have different laws.

  2. SR22 is not insurance, SR22 is a form your insurance company sends to the state to show you are covered, and it's usually required when you have done something that puts you as high risk.

Insurance goes with cars, not with drivers, so if you are driving someones car with their permission, you are covered as long as you have a valid license.
