Question:

SSI Benefits and Children?

If someone gets SSI, I know that they cannot be held to a child support order because it's not working income. I am fairly certain that SSD provides benefits for children, however SSI does not???? Can someone confirm this for me???

Thanks!

  1. My husband is disabled and on ssdi.. he still was required to pay child support.  However, the court took his income and source into account, and since kids got benefits as well, the court allowed that amount to be designated as the support.

You need to check with a lawyer.  I don't think you are correct about any income being exempt from child support.

  2. When a person qualifies for SSI payments their dependent children do also, apply with social security and you will begin receiving payments on their behalf.~
