  1. Raptor will shoot down the Su47 before it's pilot even knows he's been shot at. The F-22 is a generation ahead of everything else in the world and will unbeatable for at least 20 years.

  2. F-22 can carry more armament, stealthy-er (?) and faster. But the Su-47 is more manouverable.

Now if it was the Su-37, it would have a better chance.

  3. The F-22 is the better aircraft on all points except cost per unit, even maneuverability. There's a big problem with this matchup, though: The Su-47 doesn't exist. The "Su-47" was the expected production designation for the S-37 prototype but Sukhoi and the Russian defense ministry decided not to pursue production. Thismeans the plane has ended up being only a technology demonstrator like the American X-29.

If it were produced though, it would be a "generation 4.5" plane. The F-22 is a gen. 5 aircraft that some argue simply skipped to generation 6. The F-22's offensive and defensive avionics, stealth, communications, propulsion, and weapons versatility would all be better. It would have a maneuverability advantage as well:  The F-22 has significantly better wing loading, giving it a better sustained turning rate. While the Berkut resists stalling due to it's large LERXs and forward swept wings, it tends to lose energy quickly in a high-g turn. This is one of the reasons Sukhoi did not pursue production.

Basically, the S-37 wasn't any more advanced on a systems basis than the Su-35/Su-37. The F-22 far surpasses these planes. Given these considerations, if the "Su-47" were produced, I'd say the F-22 is the better plane. The Su-47 would be superior to almost any other plane on earth, but it still wouldn't hold up to the F-22.

A very significant note is that the most important role that planes like the S-37 and Su-37 have done is advance Russian aircraft technology to a point at which they are ready to begin working on advanced projects like PAK-FA. PAK-FA is going to far surpass the S-37 and Su-37 and is likely to be a much closer compettitor to the F-22.

  4. well the f-22 has stealth capabilities which means the su-47 wont be able to see the f-22 till it crash and burns...although it would also be the pilots flying expierience and skills with ther planes if ther not very good pilots they might not have a good chance winning in a dogfight...but i vote f-22 raptor

  5. Sorry the SU-47 isn't stealthy it will show up on the Raptors radar long before the SU-47 will pick up the Raptor thus the Raptor gets the 1st shot. Even in a dogfight scenario there is little hope for the SU-47 as the weapons of the Raptor allow it to shot at angles the Russian missile simply can't match Thus the 1st shot goes to the Raptor. I know the SU-47 has a devoted bunch of fans but the truth is Russian gear is at least two generations behind the US gear.

  6. i would vouch for F-22 however.

    why?

its an american aircraft. No rather, its NOT a russian aircraft, which means the technology, the materials, the durability, the avionics, the weapons, etc. are of much better quality.

it will probably last longer too.

the F-22 will stay in america where the pilots and maintenance personal are much more qualified and will treat an F-22 well.

the F-22 can employ every weapon in the NATO inventory but the Su-47 has not been certified as so. (russian weapons have severe launch limitations)

In terms of combat, I don't see what the problem is with the F-22. Everything is fine. Its combination of speed maneuverability, avionics, weapons are well capable of killing a Su-47.

The su-47 can perform a variety of maneuvers and can exceed 9Gs.

However, it doesn't mean the pilot will be able to survive more then 9Gs for any amount of time that is tactically advantageous. Nor are the weapons that the Su-47 employs able to be launched during most of the maneuvers that the Su-47 can perform.

Its maneuverability is supposedly better than any other aircraft. That is most probably true. However, it is an unproven concept (froward-swept wings) and who knows what problems will arise later. For one thing, they still have not fixed the likelihood of the wing tips getting ripped off during high G maneuvering.

It has a certain level of stealthiness, but certainly not the same stealthiness of an F-22. A coat of radar absorbent paint and some radar absorbent materials does not make an aircraft very stealthy whereas the F-22 was designed with stealth kept in mind every step of the process.

h**l, its still experimental, whereas the F-22 is cleared for production.

In addition with all the support hardware that the US has, like AWACS, UCAVS, satellites, subs, other aircraft, the Su-47 will be dead before it sees the F-22 100 nautical miles away about to launch a FRAAM  or LRAAM or even an AMRAAM-D up his *ss.

It won't even be able to get close to any US assets without the US knowing.
