We will be on an organized tour of Italy for 15 days, with a side trip to Sulmona, for a day, possibly a Monday. Can you suggest any sites, restaurants or events that we could do while there?

Our family name is DePamphilis...any relatives reading this?

  1. Sulmona is a lovely town in the Abruzzi, which I’ve visited a number of times. A friend of ours  lives there, Paola Pelino, whose family make the famous toasted and sugared  almonds (confetti), which Italians use for their most significant  events (births, communion, weddings, diplomas). If you still have any old  family members, be sure to bring a box  back for  them. What is a must?  If you can manage it, in Summer they hold an interesting pageant (Giostra cavalleresca). From the official web sites you’ll  notice that you can see most of the sights in a single day.

  2. I have never been to this area. However, I have located some information for you.
