SUN VS. MOON! WHAT ONE IS BETTER

The Moon is better, of course, because it shines at night when we really need the light ;-P

Most definitely, the sun is more important. Without it, the Earth would be cold and dark and not be able to support life. Besides, if there were no sun, the Earth would have nothing to orbit and it could end up being an asteroid.

Moon.  It will never shrink to be a nearly invisible brown dwarf. Nova expanded plasma will move outward past our present orbital dance of planet and moon.  I'd envy the Moon if it

got to hitch a ride further away before Earth vs. The angry Red Giant.  Besides, "BETTER" is a human concept.  Who better than a lifetime close companion to share it with.   Only clowns hitch their circus wagon to a distant solar engine that is running out of gas.

The sun is a lot more important than the moon. Without the sun, the Earth would receive no light, wouldn't be in orbit, would be hit by asteroids constantly, and would be extremely cold. The moon is just there... although we have grown to depend on it.

What do you mean - what one will win?

The sun has to be more important. Without it we wouldn't see the moon. In fact we wouldn't exist, because the sun is our source of light and energy.

Furthermore, without the sun forming, the planets and moons would not have formed either...

So the sun has a slight edge.

Other things that apply if we are talking about a battle between the two:

The sun is MUCH bigger

The sun has nuclear power
