  1. right

  2. My personal preference is left. Logical is right. Here's the deal.

I can drive any car (LHD or RHD) on any side of the road.

I was born and learned to drive in a country that drives on the right but I spent four years in the UK, with a UK car, but mostly drove it in Europe. On the right.

But while driving my UK car in Europe, I have never ever tried to overtake a car without being 150 % sure there's no car driving in the opposite direction. Whenever possible I tried to have another person in a passanger seat.

I have to say that I felt most comfortable driving a UK car in the UK - steering wheel on the right, driving on the left. I felt more comfortable seeing the oncoming traffic mostly with my right eye.

About 34% of the world by population drive on the left, and 66% on the right. By roadway distances, 72% drive on the right, about 28% on the left.

So the logical thing would be to drive on the right, but with car density in the UK and Japan, it's not going to happen. Sweden changed from left to right in 1967:-)

BTW, in European Union, it's legal to use and register any car in any country. The only exception is Slovakia (drives on the right) that doesn't allow registration of RHD vehicles.

  3. In countries where vehicles drive on the left, it is safer to have right hand drive cars because you can see further down the road when the driver is near the centreline.

the opposite is true for countries that drive on the right hand side of the road.

If cars are taken from one country to another and this involves a change to the other side of the road for driving, then mirrors will have to be adjusted (some lorries and vans may need additional mirrors) and headlight beams will need re-aligning!

  4. Right all the way!!!

  5. right handed

  6. right but really ambidextrous broke my right hand went i was young and hand to use my left a lot haha

  7. I am right handed and in the UK so use my left hand to change the gears. What has road safety got to do with it?

  8. Left don't confuse the drivers there's enough accidents on the roads already lol

  9. right handed, whats that got to do with road safety?

  10. Right. Don't see where road safety comes into this question though.

  11. I have a right hand drive but live in spain where they are all lefthand drive been here four years and i havent run head on in to anybody yet

  12. left you have to shift with the right hand.

  13. Ireland is a small place, I know somebody who was related to one of the dead in that crash. The offending car actually tried to overtake a truck and 2 cars in the one go. That's a joke about converting to right hand driving, it'll never happen.

  14. Okay...........

  15. Right-Hand Drive for Malaysia, unless you're a pure German/US car freak (as in imported directly from such countries - or even from the Philippines).
