Talking on the cellphone, lack of any real driver education, overinflated ego, bad attidude...

I think I really would buy an SUV/TRUCK, but I don't find myself flying into guard rails or overpasses very often.

SUV/TRUCKS for the most part ARE safer...for the people who need them.

  2. SUV's for the most part are safer for the people driving them, except for the rollover factor.  Besides that, then yes, they are definitely alot safer in an accident because they are bigger and stronger and heavier.  But that is also the reason why they are not safe if they run into a Geo Metro or Honda Civic.  These cars cannot take the brute force of these oversized beastly SUV's.

So, IMO even though I may feel safer driving an SUV, I would still opt for a very safe car, just incase i hit someone, the damage would be more minimal to them.

Subaru and Volvo are two car manufacturers that get 5 star safety ratings in every category on a regular basis.  I would rather go with one of those than a big Ford Expedition or something.

  4. well i dont really get your question but SUV's and trucks are both safer options and if i were you and had the extra money, i would defintly buy one vs. a small car.

and dont talk on the cellphone while your driving.

  5. Large suvs are safer for the ones who drive them but only them. They are a danger to most other vehicles on the road.Just picture a expedition, hummer ect.....hitting a carolla, cavalier, focus ect...and you will know what i mean. What about maneuvering if your in a situation where you have to jerk the wheel quick to get out of a situation you have to worry about flipping the d**n thing.I don't know about you but i would rather spin out, loose a little speed then crash other than flip a number of times while losing no speed and hit 3 or 4 things and then finally stop and who knows if you will come out alive. My opinion is that your better off in a nice full size car that has a full frame under it.Every type of vehicle will have its downfalls but i think suvs in general have the most when you look at the whole picture.

  6. check NTSB you might find that cars with properly engineered crush zones are far safer than the big iron, check out how Honda's are made (real crush zones)  National traffic safety board
