SWOT analysis of Pakistan’s bowling line-up
The ICC World Cup 2011 has started and every team is quite focused in preparation of this mega event. There are a lot of expectations from the sub-continent teams during the tournament and everybody will be expecting these countries to play at their highest
level. The sub-continent teams have an ideal know how of the wickets and can perform much better than the other teams competing.
Pakistan is one team which has remained the centre of attention during the last year and seems to have many skeletons in their closet. Pakistan will be playing their first match of the World Cup against Kenya, as they are raring to deliver their best performance.
If we consider the strengths, weakness, opportunity and threats also known as a SWOT analysis, of the Pakistani bowling line-up, the players are equipped for their first match of the tournament. Pakistan would definitely be missing the services of Mohammad
Aamir and http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Mohammad-Asif-c1993, as they will have to cope with other bowling options for their first match.
The Pakistani bowlers have many ‘strengths’ in their first match, as their bowling line-up has some notable names that give the team a psychological advantage. Bowlers like Shoaib Akhtar, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Abdur-Razzaq-c41689, Umar Gul and Shahid Afridi are known for their accuracy
and excellent wicket-taking abilities.
The basic strength of the Pakistani bowling line-up is the presence of http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Shoaib-Akhtar-c90080 in their squad. Akhtar has made a strong come-back into the Pakistani team and has been picking important wickets in recent times.
Akhtar can easily take early Kenyan wickets in his opening spell and make the inexperienced Kenyan batting line-up more vulnerable in their batting approach. Umar Gul is another bowler who will be considered as a ‘strength’ for the Pakistani bowling line-up
and can easily complement Akhtar in the opening spells.
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Shahid-Afridi-c2482, who is also the Captain of the Pakistan side, will be another ‘strength’ of the bowling line-up, as he will prove quite useful during
the middle over’s of the innings. These bowlers could easily dismiss the inexperienced Kenyan batting line-up for a cheap total.
There will not be a lot of ‘weaknesses’ of Pakistani bowlers in their first match, as they will have most of their bowling areas covered. The only weakness of the Pakistani bowling line-up will be their middle over’s bowling. http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Pakistan-c755 will be concentrating
on Afridi and Abdur Razzaq during the middle over’s and there are good chances that these bowlers might do the job for Pakistan.
Pakistan will not be playing a genuine spinner in the side, so there are chances that one of the middle over bowlers might not be that economical during his spell. Akhtar can also become a bit rusty in the opening matches and can easily go for some runs
in the initial overs.
The middle over’s bowling, is one area which is not ideal for the team and the Kenyan batsmen could easily score some important runs during the middle overs. If we consider the ‘opportunity’ for the Pakistani bowlers than we will see that they can provide
many breakthroughs against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Kenya-c752, as their batsmen are very inexperienced.
There will be a perfect opportunity for bowlers like http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Wahab-Riaz-c95839 and Abdur Razzaq to bowl some tidy overs for the team and get some good practice for the future matches of the World Cup. This match is an ideal opportunity for all the Pakistani bowlers to
gain some good bowling practice against an inexperienced batting unit like Kenya.
There are not many ‘threats’ for the Pakistani bowlers, as most of them will be in a commanding position against Kenya. The only threat for the bowlers will be if the Kenyan batsmen are able to score major runs during the middle overs, as the bowlers may
become a bit cautious in their approach for future matches.
Overall, the Pakistani bowlers have a perfect chance of delivering a good performance in their first match against Kenya.
