The Sporting hierarchy appointed Paciencia with great hopes last May but the 2011/2012 campaign has been a topsy turvy one, and they eventually lost patience and confidence in the tactician.

“Sa Pinto is the ideal coach for Sporting, especially at this stage. As he has always confided to his friends that his big dream was to become the coach of Sporting. “
He also added that his former companion had done his homework on the subject and was well prepared to take on the duties at the club.
“I am witness that he has prepared in recent years for this. He has studied, taken courses and done masters. He has seen games behind games, analyzed what he thinks is good or bad. He is a scholar, a lover of the game by training and a man who has the knowledge

Although the tactician will finally be able to live his dream of leading the Lisbon giants, it remains to be seen if he can guide them to a 4th placed finish at the end of the season.
