Sabhan set to stand first in Lightstream Handicap
Sabhan is all set to seal a sterling success in the KC Lightstream Handicap that will take place at Beverley racecourse today, May 30. The high-stakes Class 5 contest will commence at 8:05 (GMT).
On the Good To Firm track of 1 mile and 100 yards, the Geoffrey Harker-trained bay colt will run against 8 rivals including Mokbil, Hunting Gonk, Haywain, Captivity, Sygnature, Madame St Clair, Firefly and Double Cee. The prize cheque worth £2,264 will be conferred upon the winner.
Sabhan started his career in July 2011. The three-year-old novice runner elegantly grabbed a third each in September and October 2011. The talented sprinter excellently broke his maiden in his last outing on May 19, 2012.
This victory has infused immense fighting spirit and winning momentum in the colt who looks to be quite confident to make a big impact in today’s Handicap.
The talented son of Marju out of Sister Sylvia will have more than 90 percent chances to finish first provided he manages to read the ground where he is going to run for the very first time. Unfamiliarity with the venue can go against him. However, he will be able to cope with all the challenges.
Captivity can give enough tough time to Sabhan. The Mark Johnston-trained bay colt has been performing well since the dawn of the calendar year.
After getting a runner-up rank on February 3, 2012, the talented young runner bagged his maiden triumph on February 10. He was 5-6 favourite for that event. He stepped ahead to finish 9th in his last start on April 18.
Hunting Gonk is too likely to do well today. The James Given-trained bay colt elegantly finished as a runner-up on October 6, 2011 after debuting in September. He nicely grabbed 4th spot in the third and last race of his career on October 24.
Thus, there is likely to be a fierce battle in the race. Sabhan will have to adopt a blocking strategy against Captivity in order to thrive. Hunting Gonk will fight hard for the second position. Let us see who gains what.
