Sabine Lisicki aims at another monumental title success in the Family Circle Cup – Tennis News
Beauty starlet of Germany, Sabine Lisicki, has improved her game a lot this season and climbed to her career high ranking of 13. She is the sixth seed contestant in the ongoing Family Circle Cup in Charleston. She has very strong
memories associated with this tournament; having won her maiden title of the professional career in Charleston way back in 2009, she loves the Daniel Island.
The 22-year-old German looks to bag her maiden 2012 title at Charleston and stun everyone with her mesmerizing performance. She is all fired up to perform well and improve her record to 8-8 this season. Talking to the media representatives,
the German tennis ace stated, “Charleston will always have a; special place in my heart. It’s an amazing feeling to come back. Playing on the centre court here is so much fun. You know!”
She is scheduled to take on the lucky loser Andrea Hlavackova of Czech Republic in the second round of the tournament, having received the first round Bye. Hlavackova replaced the initial top seed Pole, Agnieszka Radwanska, in
the draws of the tournament. The Pole pulled out of the tournament due to a severe back injury.
Lisicki was a teenager way back in 2009 and entered the Family Circle Cup as an underdog. She defeated the world’s best players on her first title triumph of her career. It included the likes of Venus Williams, Elena Vesnina and
Marion Bartoli. Former world number one, Caroline Wozniacki, was the last victim who fell for her perfectly placed drop shots that were coupled with thunderous winners.
Slowly and gradually, the German tennis ace ignited love for her amongst the spectators. Talking about the crowd at Daniel Island, Lisicki said, “The crowd just makes me feel so good here. I’m just looking forward to playing my
first match.”
Her serves are one of the fastest in the world; only Williams sisters are able to surpass her monumental pace of 125 miles per hour. Chinese number one, Li Na, lost to the German in the last year’s campaign of Wimbledon and in
a post-match interview, she mentioned, “I mean, every serve was around 117 miles (per hour). This is impossible for women.”
She is the one of the hot favourite to win the title especially after the withdrawal of the in-form Pole, Agnieszka Radwanska. If she manages to minimize her unforced errors, she is in with a chance to win her second title at Daniel
Island.
