Sabine Lisicki overpowers Kaia Kanepi to enter semis – Wimbledon Championships 2013
Gorgeous German, Sabine Lisicki, cruised into the semi-finals after overpowering the Estonian challenger, Kaia Kanepi, in straight sets at the Wimbledon Championships 2013 on Tuesday. She jolted down a 6-3, 6-3 victory against
Kanepi at this third of the four Grand Slam events taking place in London, United Kingdom.
Seeded 23rd in this event, Lisicki carried her rhythm after stunning the world number one, Serena Williams, into this match. She ruled throughout the battle against the world number 46 and eventually stole the show.
The German star commented in a post match interview after recording the victory, "I am very happy. It was an amazing match yesterday so I had to make sure I calmed down quick enough to be ready today. But I think the experience
I had of being in the quarters here three times before helped me a lot. There's no pressure because for me it's still a game I love so much and I want to keep it that way. I'm going out there for every match to win it and we'll see what happens."
After drawing the first blood in the opening game, Lisicki took the initial lead. She then held her entire serves with conviction and availed another break chance in the end to click the opener with a 6-3 win.  
Ranked 24th in the WTA Premier Rankings, Lisicki lost her track at the start of the following set. She suffered the first blow in the third game and went 1-2 down. However, the German quickly lifted her game and went
on a four-game killing spree. She then swiped her remaining serves with poise and clinched the set with a 6-3 score line.
Summing up the 23-year-old’s performance, Lisicki clobbered a lower first serve share of 59 per cent as opposed to her rival’s 67 per cent but superbly marked 26 out of 33 points on it. She committed more double faults but hammered
23 winners to prevail.
Up next for Lisicki is the fourth seed, Agnieszka Radwanska from Poland.
Lisicki reflected about her upcoming opponent in a post match presser, "Agnieszka Radwanska plays a very smart game. She also was in the final last year, so she has a lot of confidence with that."
The Polish number one rallied past the sixth seed, Li Na, in a three-set thriller to set-up this epic encounter. Radwanska lost her path in the second set but stayed focused, subsequently sealing the deal with a 7-6(5), 4-6, 6-2
score line.
