Sabres fans: Would you be Happy with Paul Mara?

Or another 2nd/3rd tier NHL defenseman like Mara or a Rhett Warner or a Jeff Finger before Toronto got him?

I'd be content w/a Mara. I want a stay at home defenseman who we can get at a fair price. I figure a 2yr 3.5mil for Mara maybe.

Good luck getting Mara at that price, the offers he currently has are for more than that per year, let alone 2 years.

Mara's agent is asking 4 years at $20MM...........at his age, and his reputation, he'll probably get it.

Based on market rate, Mara is worth $3-$4MM a year easy (He made $4.2MM this past year including all his bonuses)

I understand there are budget limitations, but Paul Mara??? And since when is Brooks Orpik a top free agent??? That's the problem with the NHL these days - this thinking that mediocre players deserve huge $$$$...Why don't you hope your team can grab Dan Boyle instead? You're paying Vanek big money, so you can't be that poor...

You guys should kick Kevin Lowe in the balls for that Vanek offer sheet...I still say you should have let him walk - fans aren't that dumb...

You sound like good people - why don't you jump on the Senator's bandwagon, so to speak?  We are a very classy team and you will be very proud, year after year...You never know - Ryan Millar may follow you...Come to the good side and cheer for the Sens!
