Sabrina Marzahn clinches Women’s 800m freestyle race: Day one – 2011 International Swimming Festival
Germany’s athlete, Sabrina Marzahn continued to impress the arena on day one of the 2011 International Swimming Festival, in Aachen, Germany, on Friday, October 14. The session of the competition organised the Women’s 800m freestyle event.
Marzhan came out strongly and thrashed her strongest rivals, Germany’s Rosalie Kathner and Netherlands’ Marieke Nijhuis by posting a nerve wrecking time of 8 minutes and 39.83 seconds to win the 800m freestyle race. In the meantime, Kathner earned the second
position by submitting an impressive time of 8 minutes and 45.76 seconds. The third position went to Nijhuis with a mark of 8 minutes and 46.10 seconds.
Meanwhile, Netherlands’ Marion Van Den Berg did not lose heart and powered the finishing wall with a time of 8 minutes and 56.61 seconds to secure the fourth spot. In addition, Germany’s young athlete, Hannah Freiwald performed well in the race by submitting
a time of 8 minutes and 58.51 seconds to earn fifth position.
Manon Friskes of Netherlands earned sixth place honours with a mark of 9 minutes and 05.47 seconds. Antonia Massone of Germany retained seventh position by hitting the finishing wall with an impressive mark of 9 minutes and 05.63 seconds, while Netherlands’s
Janina Beckers settled for eighth place with a time of 9 minutes and 08.72 seconds.
Then, ninth place went to Netherlands’ Iris Pijtak with a time of 9 minutes and 08.81 seconds and tenth spot went to Germany’s athlete, Vanessa Dehaut with a mark of 9 minutes and 10.79 seconds. Germany’s swimmer Denise Gruhn wound up eleventh with a mark
of 9 minutes and 11.07 seconds, whereas, Shireen Post of Netherlands settled for twelfth position with a time of 9 minutes and 17.77 seconds.
Additionally, Alina Jungklaus of Germany and Evelien Van Ruiten of Netherlands secured thirteenth and fourteenth positions with a time of 9 minutes and 19.24 seconds and 9 minutes and 43.07 seconds, respectively. Last, but not the least, Rebecca Vroomen
of Netherlands earned fifteenth place in the respective meet with a mark of 9 minutes and 43.75 seconds.
