Sacha Modolo fastest in Lanzhou as Gregor Gazvoda enjoys overall win in 2011 Tour of Qinghai Lake
Colnago - CSF Inox team’s Sacha Modolo won the final stage of 2011 Tour of Qinghai Lake in Lanzhou on Sunday, July 10. Gregor Gazvoda took the overall leader’s yellow jersey.
The 24-year-old Italian cyclist, Sacha Modolo, took a total of 1 hour, 52 minutes and 34 seconds to cover the distance of 94.2 kilometres.
Recently, Sacha grabbed the second place in Ronde van Drenthe. He also took the third spot in Giro del Veneto race and fourth spot in Milan- Sanremo in 2010.
Boris Shpilevsky of Tabriz Petrochemical was the runner-up and Jacobe Keough of UnitedHealthcare Pro Cycling finished in the third spot.
Alex Coutts (Giant Kenda Cycling Team) was in good form and tried his best to catch the 81 cyclists, but he failed and grabbed 82nd place with a difference of 13 seconds.
A group of three cyclists made their first breakaway including, Volodymyr Bileka (Amore & Vita), Boris Shpilevsky (Tabriz Petrochemical Team) and Mehdi Sohrabi (Tabriz Petrochemical Team). 
After few kilometres to go, Volodymyr increased his pace and took the first sprint. The last two riders were caught by the peloton and Wenlong Zhang launched attack, but failed and Maxsim Averin took the second sprint.
Gregor Gazvoda of Perutnina Ptuj took the overall lead with a timing of 28 hours, 40 minutes and 28 seconds. Dmitry Gruzdev was the runner-up with 4 seconds and Mateusz Taciak was in the third spot with 1 minute and 2 seconds behind Gregor.
After taking the jersey, Gregor said, ‘‘The stage races I've been wearing several shirts, but never yellow. This is my biggest win so far. Would be particularly thank all the team members who are from day to day is toiling away on this success.''
Boris Shpilevsky (Tabriz Petrochemical Team) took the overall points standing with 112 points ahead of Sacha. Abbas Saeidi Tanha won the King of Mountain title with 17 points, while Dmitry Grudezv showed his good performance and took the title of best Asian
rider and was standing ahead of Hossein Askari.
