Sachin Tendulkar declared fit after knee scare: ICC World Cup 2011 news
Indian’s legendary batsman Sachin Tendulkar has been cleared to play in http://www.senore.com/Cricket/India-c750’s next ICC World Cup 2011 game after his knee scans showed no major problems.
On Sunday, the prolific batting magician underwent a knee scan after he reported a stinging pain.
However, after the scan, team India management announced that it was nothing serious and Sachin would be fit to play the next match against formidable http://www.senore.com/Cricket/England-c56013 on 27 February at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bangalore, India.
“It's an old niggle and the MRI report is all clear,” said the Indian team manager while talking to the media.
According to reports, Sachin joined the squad for a practice session in the nets on Monday which signalled his fitness level.
Tendulkar scored just 28 runs in India’s mammoth build-up of 370 runs against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Bangladesh-c747 in the opening match of the ICC World Cup 2011 on Saturday. India won that match comfortably by 87 runs.
The skipper of the Indian team, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Mahendra-Singh-Dhoni-c73820 and fellow teammates have already stated that they would want to win this year’s World Cup as a farewell present for their ace batsman.
This is Tendulkar’s sixth and final World Cup appearance and his last chance to help his side win its second World Cup title. He featured in the mega event in 1992 for the first time and since then has been a vital part of the Indian team. He has an aggregate
of 97 international centuries to his credit in One Day International and Test formats of the game and would want to complete the landmark of 100 centuries soon.
If India manage to lift the World Cup this year, it would be a befitting goodbye present for a player of Tendulkar’s calibre. How well they fare in their home conditions in the tournament, remains to be seen.
