Sachin Tendulkar falters for Mumbai Indians vs. Chennai Super Kings – 1st innings Report – Part 1
The Indian Premier League tossed up a mouth watering clash as the Mumbai Indians took on the Chennai Super Kings in the 25th match of the electrifying tournament.
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Mahendra-Singh-Dhoni-c73820 made their way on to the pitch at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai for the toss.
After the toss went in favour of the Super Kings skipper, Dhoni elected to put the opposition in to bat first. His game plan seemed to be to restrict the strong Mumbai batting line-up in the first innings.
The game touted as Tendulkar versus Dhoni got underway when http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Rajagopal-Sathish-c83415 was beaten by Chennai bowler Albie Morkel for a dot ball. Morkel bowled a sublime first over with every delivery matching the first in terms of runs given for a rare maiden in
the world of T20 cricket.
Tendulkar could only look on as his side was gifted five wides in the second over for the Mumbai Indian’s first runs on the board. That was before Tendulkar punished another loose delivery by Bollinger for a boundary.
Yet at the other end Morkel seemed a man possessed as he dismissed Sathish on the first delivery of the third over. Sathish who had a torrid time against the South African bowler in the first over was caught by http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Srikkanth-Anirudha-c90816 after a pull shot sent the
ball in the fielder’s direction.
In came the danger man http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Ambati-Rayudu-c1007 who found Morkel’s bowling just as difficult to cope with, managing to take only one run from the over, leaving Morkel’s bowling figures at an impressive two overs bowled for just one run conceded with a maiden and a
wicket to boot.
Things only got worse for the Mumbai Indians as Tendulkar was dismissed by Bollinger in the fourth over. Hussey beat Dhoni to the ball when Tendulkar got a top edge and sent the ball skywards.
The Mumbai skipper will be disappointed with his contribution of just five runs to the scoreboard after all the hype surrounding the clash with Dhoni.
The beauty of cricket is that there is always someone willing to take up the challenge and prove themselves where others have failed. Enter Rohit Sharma to replace Tendulkar and give the fans a feast of some truly exquisite batting.
Sharma was quick to show his intentions when he smashed Bollinger for two boundaries off the last balls of his over. The two shots seem to immediately wipe the smiles from the faces of the Super Kings who knew that Tendulkar’s wicket, although crucial, was
not enough on its own.
Sharma and Rayudu continued to bat on till the 10th over though be it at a relatively slow run rate of 6.70 runs per over.
